A Photographic Study of All Things West Virginia

Otto Community Building

Another photograph from my trip this past Sunday morning exploring the back roads of Roane County, West Virginia.

This little community center was in a very unlikely location, situated along a gravel road far from any significant cluster of population.  But apparently it does serve an ongoing function as a gathering spot for the few who do live in the area, as it seemed to be well used and cared for.

  2. Beautiful direct but non-confrontational shot! This Community Center is so welcoming… I can just imagine sitting on the porch with a lemonade getting together with the locals. I would, however, find it cramped if there was a big municipal debate held there.

    • Thanks for the comments HoaiPhai. For some reason unbeknownst to me I find myself gravitating towards direct, symmetrical, “2-D style” photos of building fronts etc. It’s interesting how personal taste/approach evolves over time during our photographic journeys.
