A Photographic Study of All Things West Virginia

  1. This is a great composition, really painterly.

  2. It draws my eye. The colors – the lilac, the green of the weathered sheets, the warm glow of the low sun, are somewhat discordant, but that even adds to the attractivity of the image.

    • Thanks very much for the feedback on this one Markus. It’s never a sure bet that non-scenic work strike a chord with anyone.

      • Yes, landscapes and images with easy subjects are usually welcomed. But images like this do have their merits in spite of a potentially smaller audience. They certainly need more activity on the observers’ side, as you can’t simply percieve them as an accumulation of well known subjects – it’s more that ‘what else can it be’, that Minor White claimed as a quality of a good photograph, that makes such images interesting
